Avoiding infection

Because many people with aniridia have low limbal stem cell production (these cells make the cornea, the front of the eye wear the contact lens will sit), aniridics should be careful to avoid infection and scarring that damage the cornea. Following the following rule will help you to avoid infection and keep your cornea healthy.

1) Never wear someone else's contact lenses.

2) Go to regular check ups to ensure that the lenses fit correctly and there is no infection. Both infection and lenses that do not fit properly can damage the cornea. People with Aniridia should be checked every 3 to 6 months.

3) Always wash and dry your hands before handling contact lenses.

4) Never reuse solutions to store and disinfect contact lenses.

5) Never use tap water or make-up solutions to rinse Soft contact lens

6) Follow instructions for lens insertion and removal, as well as cleaning exactly as you are told to.

7) Do not randomly switch products unless they speak with their doctor. you may be allergic to certain cleanser or lubrication products.

8) Seek immediate medical attention if they experience eye pain, a burning sensation, red eyes, intolerable sensitivity to light, cloudy vision, or an inability to keep the eyes open.

9) Have a pair of glasses and a carrying case for their contacts with you at all times in case the contacts have to be removed due to eye irritation.
